2-(3,5-Dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)ethylamine (2DMPEA) is a ligand that binds to metal ions and is used as a reagent in the laboratory. 2DMPEA has been shown to chelate transition metals, such as copper. 2DMPEA also has three functional groups: an anion, a mononuclear coordination moiety, and a chelating moiety. The anion is coordinated by the metal ion and is stabilized by the chelating moiety. The mononuclear coordination moiety can be coordinated by one or more ligands. This property of 2DMPEA enables it to bind with two different metals at the same time in order to form complexes.
