2,2-Dimethyl-tetrahydropyran-4-carbaldehyde is a heterocyclic compound that was originally synthesized as an intermediate in the synthesis of ethyl cyanoacetate. This compound has been shown to have antitumor activity and can be used for the treatment of tumors. 2,2-Dimethyl-tetrahydropyran-4-carbaldehyde is also able to chelate copper ions and is an inhibitor of DNA synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in cell culture by inhibiting protein synthesis.
