Description:

2,6-Dimethylnicotinic acid ethyl ester is a synthetic compound that can be used as a reactant to produce macrocycles. It has been shown to undergo cyclodehydration and heterocyclisation reactions with pyridines and other electrophiles. The product of these reactions is an oxazoline or triflate that can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of macrocycles. Experimental data shows that 2,6-dimethylnicotinic acid ethyl ester can form macrocycles with high yields. This analog may also possess similar properties to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) in terms of its reactivity, but further research is required.
