Product Information

Name:
3,4-Dichloropyridine
Synonyms:
  • 3,4-Dichlorpyridin
  • Pyridine, 3,4-dichloro-
Description:

3,4-Dichloropyridine is an organic compound with a functional group of chloro and a heterosubstituent of two chlorine atoms. 3,4-Dichloropyridine is used in the treatment of cancer and has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by preventing the synthesis of DNA. It also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species that can damage cellular components. 3,4-Dichloropyridine has shown potent inhibitory activity against a range of chemical reactions involving nucleophilic attack, including amidation, acylation, and addition to carbonyl groups. The mechanism for this inhibition is not currently known but may be due to steric hindrance or electron donation from its nucleophilic groups.
