Description

2,5-Dibromopentanoic acid methyl ester is a nucleophilic compound that can bind to the surface of the cell membrane. This drug has been shown to be an effective antifungal agent. It binds to the kallikrein protein and inhibits its enzymatic activity. The binding of 2,5-Dibromopentanoic acid methyl ester with kallikrein prevents its interaction with proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins in the body. This inhibition prevents the breakdown of proteins associated with fungal growth and causes cell death. 2,5-Dibromopentanoic acid methyl ester is also a competitive inhibitor for oxadiazole antifungals, such as clotrimazole and ketoconazole.
