Product Information
- 2,4-Dichloro-6-picoline
- Pyridine, 2,4-dichloro-6-methyl-
2,4-Dichloro-6-methylpyridine is a synthetic compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in human cancer cells. It is believed that this drug works by inducing DNA damage and subsequent cell death. 2,4-Dichloro-6-methylpyridine binds to sulfur atoms in the pyridine nucleotide cycle and prevents the enzyme from functioning normally. It also inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells by binding to nucleophiles on DNA during replication. The anti-proliferative effects of 2,4-dichloro-6-methylpyridine are due to its ability to block a number of stages in the cell cycle.
