2,3-Dihydro-1H-indole-6-carboxylic acid (2,3-DHICA) is an acceptor that can be sensitized by dialkylamino groups. It has been used to make nintedanib (NIN), an indoline compound that is a c1-c4 carboxylic acid with a spacer group at the C2 position. 2,3-DHICA has been shown to have high efficiency as a photoacceptor in solar cells and may also be useful in the synthesis of ethanesulfonic acid. 2,3-DHICA has no chromophores and its methyl ester form has a melting point of 109°C.
