This compound has been shown to be able to form stable covalent bonds with amino groups. 6,8-Dichloro-2H-Chromene-3-Carboxylic Acid can also react with thiols and amines to form stable covalent bonds. The compound reacts in the presence of copper ions and generates reactive radicals that are capable of crosslinking proteins. 6,8-Dichloro-2H-Chromene-3-Carboxylic Acid has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the DNA gyrase enzyme and blocking the replication process.
