2,3-Difluoronitrobenzene is a mixture of two isomeric compounds. The toxicity studies have shown that this compound has a low acute toxicity in rats and mice. 2,3-Difluoronitrobenzene has been found to inhibit syncytial virus infection of apical tissues in mice. It also inhibits the uptake of organic anions by renal proximal cells in cell monolayers. 2,3-Difluoronitrobenzene is synthesized by reacting bromoacetonitrile and nitrous acid with one another. This compound has been found to have cardiac depressant activity and can be used for the treatment of congestive heart failure and inflammatory diseases. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of a covalent bond between carbon atoms and nitrogen heteroatoms.
