Product Information
N-Dodecanoyl-L-homoserine lactone (NDAHL) is a molecule that is produced by the intestinal microflora in response to dietary fat and has been shown to inhibit tumor growth. NDAHL binds to GTPase activating protein (GAP), which is involved in chemotaxis, and inhibits its activity. When this molecule is bound to the GAP protein, it prevents the activation of small G proteins and the subsequent signaling pathway that leads to chemotaxis. This results in reduced cell motility and decreased cancer cell proliferation. The localization of NDAHL within cells has been investigated using immunofluorescence microscopy on pancreatic carcinoma cells lines, where it was observed that NDAHL localized to mitochondria and cytoskeletal structures within these cells.
