Description

The compound (3S)-(-)-3-(dimethylamino)pyrrolidine is a potent and selective antagonist at the D2 dopamine receptor. It has been shown to antagonize the effects of amphetamine and methamphetamine in vivo, as well as having anti-obesity effects. The compound has also been shown to inhibit dopamine release from rat striatal synaptosomes in vitro.

b>Potency:/b>The IC50 for the inhibition of amphetamine-induced rotational behavior is 0.038 μM, with an EC50 of 0.74 μM.br>br>
b>Efficacy:/b>In vivo efficacy was assessed by measuring both amphetamine-induced rotational behavior and changes in body weight over a 7 day period following administration of (3S)-(-)-3-(dimethylamino)pyrrolidine.br>br>
