Description:

2,5-Dimethylpyrrole is a reactive compound that is used in the synthesis of dimethyl fumarate. 2,5-Dimethylpyrrole has been shown to react with hydrochloric acid in kinetic energy experiments to give the corresponding amine. The reaction mechanism has been analyzed using UV absorption spectroscopy, and it has been found that the amino function on one molecule reacts with the photoelectron from the other molecule to form a covalent bond. This compound's IUPAC name is 2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole. 2,5-Dimethylpyrrole also forms macrocycles that are related to those found in HIV infection and have triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry properties.
