2,5-Diiodothiophene is a molecule with the chemical formula C6H4I2. It has the structure of a biphenyl with two iodine atoms attached to each of the two phenyl groups. The compound can be synthesized in a number of ways and it has been used as a reagent for palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions. It has also been used in cross-coupling reactions and light emission studies. 2,5-Diiodothiophene can emit fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet radiation and has been shown to react with x-ray crystal structures and patterning.
