Description:

4,4'-Dimethoxybenzhydrylamine is a sialic acid analog with amide functionalities. It has been synthesized by reacting 4,4'-dimethoxybenzoic acid with hydrazine. The compound has been shown to have kinetic and mechanistic properties that are similar to those of sialic acid. 4,4'-Dimethoxybenzhydrylamine has also been shown to be biosynthesized in the human liver cells (Hep-2) by enzymatic conversion of a monosubstituted benzoic acid derivative.
