3,6-Di(4-pyridyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine is an efficient method to synthesize 3,6-dihydroazepino[3',2':6,7]indole and 3,6-dihydroazepinone. It has been used to prepare many isomers of this molecule including the 2-aminoethyl and 4-aminobutyl isomers. The molecular architecture is characterized by a supramolecular network with three types of hydrogen bonds: intramolecular hydrogen bonds between nitrogen atoms and hydrogen bonds between nitrogen atoms and hydroxyl groups or carbonyl groups. This compound can be used in the preparation of architectures in which these functionalities are present in a single molecule.
