Product Information
2-(Difluoromethoxy)benzaldehyde is a pharmaceutical agent that inhibits the activity of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase, an enzyme involved in the production of inflammatory mediators. It has been shown to have inhibitory effects against colorectal adenocarcinoma cells and chronic bronchitis, and can be used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as ulcerative colitis. This compound is synthesized by reacting 2-fluoroaniline with benzoic acid in nitroethane in acidic conditions. The product is then oxidized to 2-(difluoromethoxy)benzaldehyde using sodium or potassium dichromate.
