Description:

2,5-Dichloro-1,4-dimethylbenzene is a chemical that is not too reactive and has a high degree of chemical stability. It can be used for the synthesis of other chemicals with nucleophilic properties. 2,5-Dichloro-1,4-dimethylbenzene can be synthesized from chlorobenzene by reacting with hydrogen chloride gas in the presence of sodium hydroxide to form 2,5-dichloro-1,4-dimethylbenzene. This product can also be made by reacting chlorine gas with diphenylmethane in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution at around 100°C. 2,5-Dichloro-1,4-dimethylbenzene is used as a precursor to other compounds through Friedel Crafts reactions or sulfonation.
