Product Information
Dehydropodophyllotoxin is an analog of the bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids. It has been shown to have tissue culture inhibitory effects on chronic bronchitis and fatty acid metabolism in diabetic patients. Dehydropodophyllotoxin also inhibits epidermal growth factor (EGF) and cancer cell migration, invasion, and proliferation. The hydroxyl group in this compound is crucial for its biological activity, so it must be present at the 3-position of the indole ring. Dehydropodophyllotoxin is synthesized by asymmetric synthesis involving a chiral auxiliary. This compound can be easily prepared from Huperzia serrata, which contains a high amount of dehydropodophyllotoxin.
