Description:
2,3-Dibromonaphthalene is a crystalline solid that has been studied by x-ray crystallography. It is thermodynamically stable and exhibits low energy deformation. The molecule adopts a herringbone structure with two naphthalene rings joined in the center by a single bond. This compound can be prepared by the addition of bromine to tropone in an organic solvent at low temperature, followed by reductive elimination.
