Dimethyldimyristylammonium Bromide is a cationic surfactant that has a phase transition temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. It is used in the treatment of wastewater and to remove organic substances from water. Dimethyldimyristylammonium Bromide binds to the anionic groups on the surface of particles, causing them to aggregate. This process can be observed using photomultiplier tubes or FT-IR spectroscopy. Dimethyldimyristylammonium Bromide also has synchronous fluorescence properties, which can be used for analytical chemistry.
