Dimethyldioctadecylammonium Iodide is a quaternary ammonium salt that is used as a contrast agent for X-ray imaging. It can be prepared by the reaction of sodium iodide with a fatty amine, such as dimethyldioctadecylamine. This product is an ion-pair and exhibits dichroism spectra in organic solution.
