Product Information
- 2,3-Dichloro-7-methylquinoxaline
- Quinoxaline, 2,3-dichloro-6-methyl-
2,3-Dichloro-6-methylquinoxaline is a pyrazoline drug that has potent antibacterial activity. It is a synthetic molecule which binds to the amine group of the ribose sugar in bacterial RNA, thereby inhibiting transcription and translation. This compound has been shown to be effective against many organisms including Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. 2,3-Dichloro-6-methylquinoxaline also inhibits Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The binding agent integrates with DNA and inhibits bacterial cell growth by blocking the synthesis of proteins required for cell division.
