Diethoxydiphenylsilane is a cationic polymerization agent that is used to form polymers with high molecular weight. This product is classified as a reactive, particle, cross-linking agent and can be used in the manufacture of magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents. It can also be used as a catalyst for organic reactions and as a metal chelate for the preparation of organic molecules. The chemical structure of diethoxydiphenylsilane consists of an unsaturated hydrocarbon chain with two phenyl groups at each end. Diethoxydiphenylsilane has been observed in the gas phase using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and exhibits water vapor absorption bands near 170 cm-1.
