Dimethylethylchlorosilane is a chlorosilane with the chemical formula (CH3)2SiCl and molecular weight of 107.07 g/mol. It is a colorless, volatile liquid that is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, toluene, and hexanes. Dimethylethylchlorosilane has been shown to be an efficient metathesis partner for alkoxy radicals. It undergoes nucleophilic attack on the electrophilic carbon atom of the alkoxy radical, forming a siloxane bond between the two atoms. The low energy required for this reaction makes it an attractive candidate for use in catalysis.
