Decafluorobenzhydrol is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H4(CH2)2OH. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and has a boiling point of 138 °C at normal pressure. Decafluorobenzhydrol has been used as a monomer to synthesize polymers, such as polyurethanes, polyesters, and epoxy resins. This compound also exhibits nucleophilic behavior and reacts with nitro compounds to form dinitrophenol derivatives. Decafluorobenzhydrol can cause death when consumed in large quantities due to its toxic effects on the respiratory system. The acute symptoms of this poisoning are tachycardia, vomiting, convulsions, and coma. Decafluorobenzhydrol has been shown to induce photoreduction in supercritical carbon dioxide at temperatures above 3°C.
