Product Information
- 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyrylium trifluoromethanesulphonate
2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylpyrylium trifluoromethanesulfonate (2,6DTBMP) is a condensation product of carbon monoxide and tert-butyl alcohol. This compound reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form 2,6-di-(tert-butyl)-4-methylpyridinium trifluoromethanesulfonate (2,6DTBMP). The reactions are reversible. The synthesis of 2,6DTBMP has been accomplished by the annulation of cyclopentadiene with aldehyde in the presence of titanium tetrachloride. The rearrangement of the C=C bond in this compound has been achieved using a Lewis acid such as aluminum chloride.
