Description:
1-(Dimethylcarbamoyl)-4-(2-sulfoethyl)pyridinium hydroxide inner salt (DMCAP) is an amide that is used as a substance. It can be prepared by reacting malonic acid with tricine in the presence of ethanesulfonic acid and arginine. DMCAP is used in the synthesis of malonic acid, which is a metabolite that can be found in mammals, plants, and bacteria. Malonic acid is a substrate for the enzyme asparaginase, which catalyzes the conversion of L-asparagine to aspartic acid.
