Product Information
- Pentane, 1,5-Difluoro-
1,5-Difluoropentane is a halogenated hydrocarbon that is the monochloride (Cl) of 1,5-difluorohexane. It is a colorless gas with a sweet odor. 1,5-Difluoropentane has been shown to be metabolized by the liver and kidneys into other compounds. These metabolites are then excreted via the lungs and urine. Injected 1,5-difluoropentane may cause kidney or liver damage in humans when administered for long periods of time at high doses. Exposure to 1,5-difluoropentane can also lead to respiratory problems in sensitive individuals due to its ability to react with water vapor in the air to produce hydrogen chloride gas and chlorine gas. It can also cause irritation of the eyes, nose and throat in humans due to its irritating properties.
