Product Information

Name:
3,4-Difluoropyridine
Synonyms:
  • Pyridine, 3,4-Difluoro-
Description:

3,4-Difluoropyridine is a tetrahydropyran derivative that is optically active. It has the molecular formula C6H4F2N2 and molecular weight of 132.13 g/mol. 3,4-Difluoropyridine can be synthesized by reacting 1,5-dichloro-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexane with fluorinating agents such as hydrogen fluoride or fluoroacetic acid. Racemic 3,4-difluoropyridine can also be obtained from dioxolane or alkyl group mixtures. Liquid crystal materials containing 3,4-difluoropyridine are used in the production of optical displays for computers and televisions. Hydrogen atoms in 3,4-difluoropyridine can be replaced with oxygen atoms to form oxirane or butyrolactone.
