7,8-Difluoroquinoline is a reagent that is used for the synthesis of pyridine derivatives and is also hydrolyzed in the presence of base. This compound has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Salmonella typhimurium and can be used as a starting material for synthesis of many other compounds. 7,8-Difluoroquinoline has a carbonyl group at position 2, which can be modified by reactions with other molecules. It also has mutagenic properties and is not active against Ta100 cells.
