Product Information
5.6-Difluoro-2-Naphthol is a colorless crystal compound that has refractive index values of 1.531 and 1.533 at 20°C, respectively. It is an anisotropic liquid crystal with a positive dielectric constant of 7.3 and a negative dielectric constant of -1.8. The melting point for this compound is between 88°C and 93°C, and the boiling point is between 220°C and 230°C. 5.6-Difluoro-2-Naphthol reacts with hydrogen peroxide to form the diazonium salt 5,6-difluoro-2-naphthoquinone (5,6-DNFQ). This reaction releases oxygen gas in the form of bubbles from the solution and can be used to detect hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solutions (e.g., urine).
