2,6-difluoro-4-pyridinamine is a pyridine derivative that has supramolecular properties. It has been shown to stabilize fluorescence and shift the absorption spectrum of the fluorophore. 2,6-difluoro-4-pyridinamine can be used as a chemo sensor for detecting hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide and thiocyanate ion. The interaction of 2,6-difluoro-4-pyridinamine with these compounds leads to a change in its fluorescence properties. 2,6-Difluoro-4-pyridinamine also shows hypsochromic effects when it interacts with certain molecules such as benzene or methylbenzoate.
