Product Information

Name:
Dichlorofluoronitrosomethane
Synonyms:
  • Methane, dichlorofluoronitroso-
Description:

Dichlorofluoronitrosomethane (DNF) is a synthetic, volatile fluorinated compound that can be synthesized from the reaction of chlorofluoronitrosomethane with hydrogen peroxide. It has no known biological activity and is not known to be an environmental contaminant. DNF is a stable molecule in the ground state and has an insensitive fluorescence profile with a high quantum yield. It has been used as a standard for calibration of optical density measurements at 254 nm, because it is an analog of nitrosomethane and has similar spectral properties.
