Description:
5-Deoxy-5,5-difluoroarbekacin is a novel antibiotic that is synthesized by an unusual shift of the carbonyl group from C2 to C3. This structural change has been shown to be responsible for the drug's high potency and selectivity against Gram-positive bacteria. The couplings between these resonances have been determined using nuclear Overhauser effects experiments and chemical shift techniques. These couplings have also been used to determine the conformation of this compound.
