Product Information
Diethyl Fluoro(Methyl)Malonate is a chiral malonic acid derivative. It is an optical pure compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of diethyl malonate and methyl bromide. The hydrolytic enzymes, such as esterases, are able to cleave the ester bond between the fluorine atom and methyl group on the diethyl side chain, which releases fluoroform gas. The carbonyl group of diethyl malonate reacts with the catalytic agent in this reaction. This produces carboxylic acid and alcohol products, which are not optically pure compounds. Diethyl Fluoro(Methyl)Malonate is a reactive chemical that can be used in organic synthesis reactions such as cycloaddition reactions with ketones or alkenes to produce indoles or alkynes respectively.
