Dibromofluorophosphine sulfide (DBPS) is a chemotherapeutic agent that is used to treat bladder cancer. DBPS inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by binding to regulatory proteins that control cell growth. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. This drug is a selective inhibitor of kinesin, an important protein for the movement of vesicles from the Golgi complex to the cell surface, which may be its mechanism for blocking tumor progression. Dibromofluorophosphine sulfide has been shown to inhibit amines in human urine.
