Product Information
2,4-Dichloro-5-fluorobenzonitrile is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. It has a minimal inhibitory concentration of 0.2 µg/mL for S. aureus. 2,4-Dichloro-5-fluorobenzonitrile has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and antitumour activity in vivo and in vitro against skin cancer cells, lung cancer cells, and leukemia cells. This drug also inhibits the production of pyrazolines, which are intermediates in the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines from nitrites. The synthesis of 2,4-Dichloro-5-fluorobenzonitrile is achieved through chlorination at carbon 5 with chlorine atoms under acidic conditions followed by treatment with fluorine gas to form a dichlorofluoroalkene intermediate
