2,3-Dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane is a process gas that is used in the production of ethylene. It can be introduced into the ethylene process flow as a transition gas. 2,3-Dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane is used for transferring the feedstock from one reactor to another. The catalytic reaction of this gas requires light in order to proceed and it produces a reaction product that contains chlorine. This product can be recycled or exchanged with other gases before being reintroduced into the reaction. 2,3-Dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane may also be used as an alternative to chlorine in photochemical reactions.
