Dipotassium hexafluorogermanate(2-) is a compound with the chemical formula K[GeF6] that has an average particle diameter of 3.5 nm. It is a white solid and has a melting point of -3.6°C and a boiling point of 1,000°C. Dipotassium hexafluorogermanate(2-) is used in radiation devices and is also used to fabricate electronic devices, such as silicon-based semiconductors. The luminescence properties of this compound are similar to those of zinc sulfide. When exposed to hydrofluoric acid, dipotassium hexafluorogermanate(2-) will form hydrolysis products like potassium fluoride or germanium oxide and activated germanium tetrachloride.
