Description

1,2-Dichloro-1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethane is a chemical that belongs to the group of refrigerants. It is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that is used as a replacement for other chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) because it does not contain chlorine. 1,2-Dichloro-1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethane has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity in vitro and in vivo. In vitro studies have shown that this chemical inhibits the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes. This drug also has an effect on bowel disease. The mechanism of action is unclear but may be related to its ability to inhibit 5-membered heteroaryl compounds such as methyl ethyl piperidine and trifluoroacetic acid from producing inflammatory mediators
