This substance also has a high degree of toxicity to the kidneys and liver. 4,5-Dichloro-2,2-difluoro-1,3-dioxolane is metabolized by hydrolysis to release chloride ions and is excreted mainly through the urine.
4,5-Dichloro-2,2-difluoro-1,3-dioxolane may be used in conjunction with sevoflurane or other inhalational agents as part of anesthesia during surgery or dental procedures.
