2,3-Dichloro-6-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzaldehyde (2,3-DCA) is a chemical used in the production of formate. It is also used as a medicine and has selective toxicity to plants. 2,3-DCA is hydrolyzed to formic acid and ethyl formate by esterases in the plant cell wall. The high yield of 2,3-DCA make it an attractive alternative to other chemicals for use in agrochemicals.
