Product Information
- 2-Phosphapropene, pentafluoro-
Difluoromethylidene-(trifluoromethyl)phosphane is a synthetic compound that has been identified as a potential antiviral agent for the treatment of the H1N1 pandemic. It is a labile, reactive, and fluorine-containing compound consisting of three isomers with different structures. The structural isomers are not amines but rather are diazo compounds. Difluoromethylidene-(trifluoromethyl)phosphane is synthesized by reacting primary amines with diazo compounds to form N-diazo-N-alkylamines, which are then condensed with phosphoryl chloride to form the desired product. Crystal x-ray diffraction studies have shown that the molecule has an asymmetric unit cell with two equivalent molecules in it. The nitrogen atoms reside in one of the two molecules and in both molecules in the other molecule.
