Product Information
- 2,4-Dimethyl-5-nitrobenzotrifluoride
1,5-Dimethyl-2-Nitro-4-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzene is a halide that has been shown to undergo Suzuki coupling with aryl bromides and iodides in the presence of palladium catalysts (e.g., Pd(PPh3)4). The methylation of 1,5-Dimethyl-2-Nitro-4-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzene using the miyaura reaction has also been reported.
Operationally, the methylation of 1,5-Dimethyl-2-Nitro-4-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzene can be accomplished by initially heating the compound with sodium hydroxide in methanol to produce sodium methoxide. This is then reacted with dimethylamine hydrochloride in methanol to produce an intermediate that can be purified by recrystallization.
