Description:
24,24-Difluoro-25-hydroxy-26,27-dimethylvitamin D3 is a vitamin D analog that binds to the calcium binding protein in the cytosol. It has a high affinity for calcium and can be used as an analogue of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. This drug has been shown to decrease serum phosphate levels in rats. 24,24-Difluoro-25-hydroxy-26,27-dimethylvitamin D3 has also been found to have a higher affinity for intestinal cells than 25-hydroxy vitamin D.
