Product Information
N,N-Diethyl-alpha,alpha-difluoro-3-methylbenzylamine (DEAFMB) is an organic compound that is a fluorinated analog of diethyl amine. It binds to the active site of the enzyme crth2, which is involved in the synthesis of epoxides from β-unsaturated ketones. DEAFMB inhibits this enzyme by binding to its allosteric site, preventing the transfer of electrons from NADPH to the cytochrome P450 complex. This leads to a decrease in the production of epoxides and a decrease in fungicidal activity. The antifungal effects may be due to hydrogen fluoride and other reactive intermediates that are produced as a result of DEAFMB binding to the enzyme. The antifungal activity can also be attributed to its electrophilic nature as it forms covalent bonds with nucleophiles on fungal cells. The enantiomer (R)
