1-(3,4-Dihydro-2H-pyran-5-yl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethanone is a nucleophilic compound that can be used to synthesize a number of organic compounds. It has been shown to react with Grignard reagents and amines. The reactions with the Grignard reagents give cyclic products. 1-(3,4-Dihydro-2H-pyran-5-yl)-2,2,2-trifluoroethanone reacts with hydroxylamine in acidic conditions to form an α,β unsaturated ketone. This compound is also an excellent trackable carbonyl due to its reactivity and solubility.
