Name:
2-(3,4-Difluorophenyl)oxirane
Description:

2-(3,4-Difluorophenyl)oxirane is a synthetic compound with antiplasmodial activity. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of the parasite Plasmodium falciparum by inhibiting mitochondrial electron transport and ATP production. 2-(3,4-Difluorophenyl)oxirane has also been found to have an effect on human liver cells and is currently under investigation as a potential drug for hepatitis C. This drug has a profile that is related to other spirocyclic compounds with pharmacophoric substructures, such as carboxamide or phenyl rings. The physicochemical parameters of this compound are similar to those of other synthetic compounds that are active against malaria parasites.
