Description:

(2'R)-2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoro-2'-methyluridine 3',5'-dibenzoate is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme RNA polymerase. It inhibits the synthesis of RNA, which is essential for protein synthesis and cell division. The synthesizing of (2'R)-2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-2'-methyluridine 3',5'-dibenzoate can be done on an industrial scale by following a four-step process. This process involves the use of a Lewis acid catalyst to form the dianion. In this step, one mole of 2,4-dichlorophenylacetonitrile is used as the starting material and reacts with five moles of sodium triacetoxyborohydride in acetic acid at room temperature. The next step involves adding three moles of potassium carbonate to the reaction mixture and refluxing it for two hours. After cooling down, adding
