Description:
The process starts with the manufacture of 2,2-Difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester by the esterification of methanol and cuprous cyanide in the presence of a catalyst. This reaction is followed by cyanation to form 2,2-Difluoro-benzo[1,3]dioxole-5-cyanomethyl ester. The synthesis is completed by hydrolysis of the cyanomethyl group to produce the desired product. The process flow can be scaled up for large scale production.
